Community Connect is a major new initiative which enables Scotmid members to make a difference in their communities in our Lakes & Dales Region, encompassing Northumberland, Weardale and Cumbria.
Community Connect is simple: Every time a Scotmid Co-operative member shops in a Lakes & Dales Food store they can scan their Community Connect Card to receive one Community Connect vote.
Members then register and attend our twice yearly member meetings to cast their votes to allocate awards of up to £5,000 to three Good Cause Groups.

I am involved with a Good Cause Group
Scotmid’s Community Connect Awards are available to good cause groups and projects across our trading areas in the Lakes & Dales.
A Lakes & Dales panel, consisting elected members, staff and ordinary members, will shortlist three good cause groups, who are looking for funding in their relevant geographical area. All three of the good cause groups shortlisted will receive a share of £9,000. The funds of £5,000 and two runners-up awards of £2,000 will be allocated based on the votes received.
Applications for funding are now open; the deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday 20 September.
Community Connect will exist alongside our Community Grant scheme which has distributed over £110,000 in the last year.
In addition, our Charity of the Year initiative has raised over £1 million in the last three years.
Our Lakes & Dales stores are as follows: Shap, Lazonby and Keswick (Cumbria), Seaton Valley, Wheatridge and Wheatridge Filling Station (Northumberland) and St John’s Chapel, Stanhope and Frosterley.
