RSPCA Named New Charity of the Year

Lakes & Dales Co-operative have announced that the RSPCA will be the community retailer’s new Charity of the Year partner.

The partnership between Lakes & Dales, which has nine convenience stores in Cumbria, Durham and Northumberland, and the animal welfare charity aims to not only raise funding, but also to increase awareness of the vital work the charity carries out across the local communities, with a particular focus on educating children and adults on animal welfare.

As part of Scotmid Co-operative, staff across Lakes & Dales’ stores will take part in various fundraising activities including bake sales, sponsored dog walks, triathlons and much more to support the animal charity.

Lakes & Dales committee member John Mills said: “We are really excited to announce our Charity of the Year partnership with RSPCA.  The aim of this year’s partnership will be to raise money with the aim of preventing animal cruelty through education.

“This Charity of the Year partnership is something different to anything we’ve done before, but it is a cause that resonates with our staff, members and customers.

“There are a lot of plans in the pipeline already for fundraising, so we look forward to talking to members and customers about how they can help us to raise as much money as possible for the RSPCA.”

Sarah Colberg, Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager at RSPCA said: “We are delighted to partner with Lakes & Dales Co-op. This partnership will enable us to raise vital funds to support our work rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming tens of thousands of animals in need.

“Importantly it will help us to educate and raise awareness to improve animal welfare too. It is exciting to see the enthusiasm from Lakes & Dales staff to get started and I would like to take this opportunity thank everyone for their support.”
